John is the bar manager of Coast Bar and Grill and has been bartending at Coast for the last 4˝ years. He is proud to tell everyone that Coast pours THE largest number of original Dark ‘n Stormy® cocktails than any other establishment in Charleston! Bermuda’s National cocktail, made with Gosling’s Black Seal Rum, Bermuda ginger beer and a squeeze of lime, is the perfect fit with the relaxed feel of the bar.
COAST serves up Charleston's freshest seafood. Established in 2002, and housed in what was originally an indigo warehouse, this Charleston fish house redefines “fresh” from the menu to the decor. COAST features 40-ft ceilings, rustic tin roofs, and paintings from around the world, creating an atmosphere reminiscent of an eclectic beach bar.
At the heart of the restaurant is the hickory and oak custom made wood burning grill, a feature you will only find at COAST. A few favorites include the Seared Rare Tuna, Fish Tacos, Plantain Encrusted Mahi Mahi, and COAST Tamale, along with additional original plates to take full advantage of the bountiful local ingredients.
When John is not bartending, he enjoys the local outdoors. He says: “I have worked in 22 U.S. states and 3 different countries, but Charleston is my favourite place of all. Great people, great food, laid back atmosphere, boating, fishing and Dark ‘n Stormy cocktails – what could be better?!”
