Bartender of the Month
A four headed monster sounds frightening. This monster is only scary if delicious homemade cocktails strike fear into your heart. That is what the 4 person team consisting of an owner, manager, head bartender, and mixologist/infuser, call themselves at Watermark in Asbury Park, NJ.
Russell Lewis is the owner. He originally was looking to open a speak easy type craft cocktail bar, much like some places he drank at back in New York where he is from, but Russell fell in love at first sight of the 8,000 sq. ft. beach front property and morphed his dream on a larger scale to become Watermark.
The result? An indoor and outdoor bar complex with picture perfect views of the Atlantic Ocean, and the best cocktails you will drink anywhere on the Jersey Shore. “We serve handcrafted cocktails in a commercial setting” says owner Russell Lewis.
One of the main staples in multiple cocktails at Watermark is of course Gosling’s BLACK SEAL® Rum. Nona Lloyd, Watermark’s general manager, has a love for dark rums and has had Gosling’s Bermuda Rum heavily featured on their menu since the bars inception in 2008. Bartender Michael Johannesen enjoys mixing the four featured Gosling’s Bermuda Rum cocktails for patrons:

Head bar manger and master diffuser Rich Falkiewicz creates batches of Watermarks famous, pineapple infused Gosling’s Black Seal Rum. He says: “The rum picks up the flavor of the pineapple perfectly in a way that does not overpower, but compliments the original tones of Gosling’s Black Seal Rum; they are essentially perfect for each other.”
The 4 member team stress what they believe to be the most important factor in their bars success and good reputation: “Consistency.
