Bermuda Triangle Float (created by Jacqueline Patterson, mixologist at Le Colonial, San Francisco)

Ingredients

1 oz Gosling's Black Seal Rum
oz Navan Vanilla Liqueur
2 oz house root beer syrup*
oz fresh squeezed lime juice
1 oz egg white
oz cream

Method

Shake the above ingredients very hard for about 30 seconds without ice, and 30 seconds with. Strain into an old fashioned glass and garnish with a few grates of nutmeg and a star anise pod.

*The root beer syrup is made from 1/2 cup of birch bark, 1 cup of sasafrass, 1/2 cup of sarsaparilla, 2 cups of water and 2 cups of brown sugar or molasses. Boil these ingredients until the sugar has melted and the ingredients have colored the syrup dark brown, fine strain the syrup through cheese cloth.
