BERMUDA SURVIVES HURRICANE FLORENCE

Bermuda reopened for business on September 12th, 2006, after category one Hurricane Florence brushed past Bermuda during Sunday and Monday. A number of homes were left without power, and winds of 97 knots were recorded as the hurricane blew past, but Bermuda was spared the complete wrath of Florence. The majority of the damage to homes and businesses was caused by blown windows and roofs, fallen trees and branches, and pole fires caused hazards elsewhere.
