49th NEWPORT BERMUDA RACE

1 Jun 2014

With the June 20th start of the Newport Bermuda Race fast approaching, 165 boats are entered for the 49th sprint from Castle Hill, in the mouth of Narragansett Bay, to the finish off St. Davidís Head, Bermuda.

Organized by the Cruising Club of America and the Royal Bermuda Yacht Club, the 635-mile Newport Bermuda Race is sailed almost entirely out of sight of land and across the Gulf Stream, known for challenging weather where the currents are strong.

Twenty-one states from Maine to California are represented in the fleet, along with 16 entries from outside the United States including one boat each from Austria, Germany, Russia, and Spain; three from Bermuda; four boats from the U.K.; and five boats from Canada.

Gosling's Rum is proud to be the Official Rum Sponsor of the Newport Bermuda Race. We look forward to seeing all Newport Bermuda Race sailors on June 18 for the ever popular Gosling's Rum Newport Shipyard Crew Party. We can't wait to see you all again in Bermuda for the Post Race Celebration at Barrs Bay Park on June 27.

We wish all Newport Bermuda sailors a safe and fast race to the finish.
