On the first night of the event a VIP dinner was held high up on the snowy mountain top at Allie’s Cabin, a handsome rustic lodge restaurant. Sleighs transported the lucky seventy-five invited guests up the mountain. Before departing each guest was treated to an insulated travel mug filled with steaming Gosling’s Hot Buttered Rum Toddy (made with Gosling’s Gourmet Hot Buttered Rum Toddy Mix and Gosling’s Black Seal® Rum). A spectacular dinner was prepared by local and visiting celebrity chefs. Wine and spirit writer and bon vivant Anthony Dias Blue proclaimed Gosling’s Family Reserve Old Rum one of the best drinks he has ever tasted. A special dessert was prepared by Citizen Cake’s (San Francisco) owner and Chef Elizabeth Faulkner to marry with Gosling’s Old Rum. President and CEO Malcolm Gosling was then asked to say a few words about Gosling’s Rums. To a rapt audience Malcolm held forth on the family tradition and the making of Gosling’s rums. Exclamations and testimony to Family Reserve Old Rum’s finesse and ineffable qualities were universal. A grand night was had by all. VIP Guests also received a special Bon Appétit Beaver Creek Classic duffel bag crammed with goodies. Included, and highly prized, were bottles of Gosling’s Black Seal Rum and Gosling’s Gold Bermuda Rum, a Gosling’s Gold baseball cap and Gosling’s Gourmet rum infused cakes, preserves and sauces. Malcolm Gosling and our Mid-West Brand Manager, ace skier, Colin Wells participated in the Celebrity Ski Race. Fearless, exuberant Malcolm made all his gates in good time, but it was Colin who was a medalist. Team Ming Tsai was the overall winner. Ming Tsai, owner of Blue Ginger in Wellsley, MA and Food Network star, is a Gosling’s Rums fan and will be featured in our upcoming Bon Appétit advertisements. At the Bon Appétit hospitality tent over two thousand guests and locals were treated to samples of Gosling’s Gourmet rum cakes as they came off the slopes. The Big Night of the long weekend was the Grand Tasting. Over five hundred guests were greeted upon arrival with Bermuda’s national cocktail, a Dark ‘n Stormy®. Made with Gosling’s Black Seal® Rum, Bermuda ginger beer and a squeeze of lime this was the perfect opener to a perfect evening of sipping and tasting great spirits, wines and food. Guests moved from station to station sampling the signature dishes of celebrity chefs, famous vineyards and Gosling’s Rums. It seemed that every guest had either a Dark ‘n Stormy or the new Bermudian cocktail (equal parts Gosling’s Gold Rum and pineapple juice, a splash of Grand Marnier, fresh mint and a twist of orange).  Gosling’s Gourmet rum cakes, sauces and preserves were also offered and received widespread praise.
