To fill an increasing demand for a drinkable, lighter rum, Gosling’s has doubled its product offerings by introducing Gosling’s Gold Bermuda Rum, its first new product in 108 years. Created with the same passion and patience that goes into Gosling’s flagship product, the rich amber of Gosling’s Gold is made by using only the finest distillates in strict accordance with techniques passed down over seven generations. Gosling’s Gold includes products of both pot stills (as with fine Cognacs) and continuous stills (as with grappa) imparting both smoothness and a soft, elegant finish. The result is a luscious, well-rounded product with broad consumer appeal. With hints of vanilla, apricot, mango and a slightly smoked oak character, Gosling’s Gold can be served neat and is also an excellent mixer in classic soda and fruit juice-based rum cocktails. The 80 proof rum retails for $17.99 (750 ml) and is available in 1.75 L, 1 L, 750 ml, 200 ml, and 50 ml in select U.S. markets. # # # Gosling’s Rum will celebrate its 200th anniversary in 2006. The family’s flagship brand, Gosling’s Black Seal Rum, dates from 1860. It is a well-aged, extremely dark rum blended in Bermuda according to a secret family recipe. It is the primary ingredient for the authentic version of the legendary cocktail, the Dark ‘n StormyTM (mixed with ginger beer) The Company also distributes the ultra-premium family vintage “Old Rum,” produced in limited quantities. Englishman William Gosling, the company founder, sent his son James Gosling to sea bound for Virginia in 1806 with the original shipment of spirits products, but the chartered clippership Mercury was becalmed for more than 90 days, and James was diverted to Bermuda. This led to the creation of a venerable Bermuda business that continues to grow and thrive. In 2004 Malcolm Gosling moved with his family from Bermuda to the East Coast of the United States in order to oversee personally a major American expansion of the Gosling’s brand.
